Colonial Group-owned Colonial Oil Industries (COI) has acquired Atkinson Oil Company LLC — a Sandersville, Georgia-based distributor of fuel and lubricants. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Colonial Oil’s distribution footprint across the Southeast while expanding its fuel and lubricant delivery capabilities in Georgia and surrounding markets. Atkinson Oil serves commercial customers with fuel, lubricants and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) products.
Savannah, GA-based olonial Group President and CEO Christian Demere said the Sandersville and Macon markets align with the company’s broader growth strategy, adding that Atkinson Oil has “deep roots” and longstanding customer relationships in the region.
Operations will continue in Sandersville and Macon, Georgia, and all existing facilities will remain active following the transaction. The acquisition also brings 14 Atkinson Oil employees into Colonial Oil Industries as part of an integration process designed to maintain service continuity and support future growth.
Atkinson Oil CEO Clint Hancock said the move reflects a shared focus on safety, customer service and long-term customer relationships, while providing customers access to expanded resources under Colonial Oil’s ownership.
Colonial Oil Industries is one of the largest independent oil companies in the U.S., supplying fuel and lubricant products across 34 states through a network of terminals and delivery operations serving wholesale, commercial, industrial, retail and marine customers.
