Ingersoll-Rand plc (NYSE: IR), Swords, Ireland, reported sales for the third quarter of $3.7 billion, an increase of 4 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Total U.S. revenues were up by 5 percent compared to 2012, and revenues from international operations increased by 3 percent (up 3 percent excluding currency). Profit decreased 48.4 percent to $165.9 million.
Climate solutions sales were $2 billion, an increase of 4 percent compared with the third quarter of 2012. Industrial technologies sales of $722 million increased by 3 percent year-over-year. Residential solutions sales were $609 million, an increase of 9 percent compared with 2012. Security technology sales were flat at $392 million.
For the first nine months, sales for Ingersoll-Rand were $10.8 billion, an increase of 2.2 percent compared to the same period a year ago. Profit decreased 27.1 percent $571.1 million.
