In its first acquisition since 2024, St. Louis-based infrastructure and industrial supplies distributor Core & Main announced it will expand in Canada with its definitive agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Canada Waterworks and Canada Waterworks Ottawa.
Collectively Canada Waterworks, the water, wastewater and storm drainage product distributor serves contractors and municipalities in southern Ontario. Its team operates from three locations in Toronto, Ottawa and Hamilton, Ontario.
“Canada Waterworks represents the next step in building the Core & Main platform in Canada, as we continue to expand our reach and pursue the excellent growth opportunities in Ontario and beyond,” Core & Main President Brad Cowles said in a Sept. 2 news release. “The addition of Canada Waterworks is a wonderful complement to the existing footprint Core & Main has in the province. It presents a great opportunity to further our leadership and operational teams in Canada to enhance how we serve our customers there.”
Canada Waterworks President and CFO Guenther Koehler said Core & Main will provide Canada Waterworks a “strong level of support” to allow the company to continue to operate as a local, Canada-based business and enhance what it can offer its customers.
“We appreciate that Core & Main has a culture that matches our own, with a focus on entrepreneurial spirit, associate support and customer focus,” Koehler said.
Core & Main was No. 1 on MDM’s 2025 Top Distributors List for PVF products.
