The latest offering out of MDM Research has arrived, and it’s robust.
MDM has published our 2025 Economic Outlook Report (EOR), which serves as a comprehensive economic reference guide to the $8 trillion U.S. wholesale distribution industry.
The 115-page report provides both an overall view of the entire industry and macroeconomic details on its 19 different verticals as identified by the U.S. Census Bureau. With that, the report is actually comprised of 20 subreports: one reflecting the overall industry, and 19 reflecting those aforementioned specific verticals.
The report is available in the MDM Store for $1,995, but MDM Premium subscribers get it complimentary. So, if you’re not a Premium subscriber, you can become one for $850 and get access to this report as well as all the other exclusive content available on Premium. It’s a no-brainer.
If you’re already a Premium subscriber, you can download the report from your Premium Dashboard.
I should note a reminder that members of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors get free access to Premium upon activation.
You can also view a sample version of the report here.
In each of the EOR’s subreports, you’ll find:
- Economic data covering each wholesale distribution sector’s demographics;
- Reported monthly and quarterly revenue from the past several years — both nominal and inflation-adjusted (“real”);
- Forecasted revenue through 2026;
- Contextual information to help you know how your industry is performing and where it’s headed, as well as;
- Statistics on employment, wages, inventories, gross margin and more.
This Economic Outlook Report (EOR) is based on the most updated available data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, including the Bureau’s August 2025 Wholesale Trade report. It compiles all of that government data in one convenient location and a scannable format.
Ultimately, this report will equip you with the market data you can use to benchmark against and give an updated snapshot of the nation’s wholesale industrial, commercial and building supply markets.
As you kick off your 2026 budget process, this report can provide valuable economic insights to help you confidently make financial decisions.
