Industrial and contractor supplies buying group AD named John Henkels as President of its newly-established Waterworks Division, effective Jan. 1, 2026, following the company’s merger with The Commonwealth Group (TCG).
In this role, Henkels will lead the division’s strategy and operations across the U.S. waterworks channel, working with AD members, supplier partners and divisional leadership to drive growth, strengthen relationships and expand market opportunities.
Henkels brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in distribution, operations and business development. Most recently, he served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Iconix Waterworks (U.S.), where he oversaw all U.S. operations, acquisitions and branch network expansion. Prior to Iconix, Henkels held senior leadership positions at Clockwork Home Services, Goodman Manufacturing and Wesco Distribution, where he led large-scale teams, executed turnarounds and delivered consistent gains in revenue, profitability and market share.
“The creation of the Waterworks Division marks an exciting expansion of AD’s commitment to independent distributors,” said Bill Weisberg, AD Chairman and CEO. “The needs and opportunities for distributors and suppliers within this distinct and growing industry are different than plumbing. John’s extensive experience, operational expertise and proven record of growth will be instrumental as we establish and grow this new division. We’re excited to welcome him on board.”
Henkels shared his perspective on the new role: “AD has a proven model for helping independents succeed, and I’m eager to bring my experience in the waterworks industry to that platform. Together, we’ll build on AD’s strong foundation and make a real difference for our members and supplier partners.”
