Acuity Brands Sales Down 3.5% in 2Q

Profit fell 13.7% during the quarter to $57.2 million.

Lighting distributor Acuity Brands Inc. (NYSE: AYI), Atlanta, reported sales for the second quarter of $824.2 million, a 3.5% decrease compared to the same period a year earlier. Profit fell 13.7% to $57.2 million.

For the first six months, sales were $1.7 billion, a decrease of 7.2% compared to the prior-year period. Profit fell 21.7% to $114.2 million.
