Packaging solutions manufacturer Green Bay Packaging will invest $1 billion to expand its manufacturing facility in Morrilton, AK.
The multi-year project will upgrade the mill’s infrastructure and includes acquiring approximately 300 acres for future growth.

The expansion will improve the Morrilton facility’s infrastructure and replace process equipment, including the recovery and biomass boilers. Additionally, GBP will install an electric turbine generator to lower Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
“This project reflects our ongoing commitment to quality and sustainability, as well as our dedication to our employees, customers and the communities in which we live and work,” GBP Vice President of Mill Operations Matt Szymanski said in a June 3 news release.

The company currently employs over 620 people in Conway County and plans to add 35 positions as part of the expansion.
