Stainless and nickel alloy mill manufacturer and distributor Tri Star Metals agreed to acquire Siri Wire.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Danielson, CT, Siri Wire is a manufacturer and distributor of stainless steel wire products. Founded in 1992, its offerings include stainless steel and alloy wires used in applications such as filter screens, washers and medical and surgical devices. The company also supplies electro-polish quality (EPQ) and spring wires, as well as cold heading wires used in producing fasteners, nuts and screws.

Tri Star Metals is an Illinois-based manufacturer of stainless steel and nickel alloy bar and wire. Operating from a 300,000-square-foot facility equipped with advanced processing equipment, the company specializes in producing specialty alloys with unique mechanical properties, available in non-standard diameters and lengths with low minimum order requirements.

Tri Star Metals said key benefits of the acquisition include:

• Siri Wire will leverage Tri Star Metals’ expertise in metallurgy, engineering, production and IT to enhance its capabilities
• Both companies will expand their product lines by combining manufacturing strengths to offer a wider range of products
• Planned capital investments will bring new technologies from Tri Star that aim to improve both quality and performance

“This strategic combination of manufacturing and distribution within the U.S. will enable us to better serve both TSM and Siri Wire’s customers,” Tri Star Metals President and CEO Jay Mandel said in an April 15 news release. “We have known the Hitchcock family for over 20 years and have always been impressed with their leadership and stewardship of Siri Wire.”

Siri Wire will remain an independent mill and distributor under the leadership of Bryan and David Hitchcock. Bryan Hitchcock will continue as President of Siri Wire and will also join the Tri Star Metals Executive Committee.
