Information technology products provider Ingram Micro shared a forward-looking vision on March 18, announcing plans to pivot from its longstanding role as a distributor towards its role as an AI-powered software platform.

At HP’s annual “HP Amplify” partner conference in Nashville on March 18, Sanjib Sahoo, Ingram Micro’s President of Global Platform Group, said the company is not merely developing a tool to support businesses but rather transforming into a platform-based company. The company added that AI will play an integral role in driving this shift.

The report detailed that Sahoo also said Ingram Micro’s platform addresses the “critical industry challenge” of inefficiency in traditional distribution models. The company’s Integrations Hub is designed to connect partners instantly, aiming to eliminate the lengthy integration processes typically required between distributors and vendors.

“We’ve built more than 29 million lines of code, developed over 100 AI models and have 30 patents pending,” Sahoo said. “We’ve strategically procured talent from tech giants like Facebook, Meta, Amazon and Google to build this transformative technology.”

Irvine, CA-based Ingram Micro had 2024 revenue of $48 billion, down 0.1% vs. 2023, while gross margin of 7.18% dipped from 7.38% and adjusted EBITDA fell 1.9%.
