Woodlands, TX-based chemicals distributor Shrieve Chemical Company — a portfolio company of Gemspring Capital — acquired Carbon Chemical Group.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Based in Ringaskiddy, County Cork, Ireland, Carbon Group is a distributor of specialty chemicals, food ingredients, pharmaceutical raw materials and agricultural products. Founded in 1967, the company supplies essential ingredients and performance chemicals to customers ranging from local businesses to multinational corporations. It offers global sourcing, contract manufacturing, custom packaging, technical support and specialized storage.

Shrieve Chemical said the acquisition expands its presence in the specialty chemicals market and improves its capacity to serve customers throughout Europe. It also opens opportunities to offer a wider range of products to Carbon Group’s customers and to introduce the company’s specialized solutions to Shrieve’s current clients.
