Wire and cable master wholesaler Distributor Wire & Cable (DWC) has opened a new Cable Distribution Center (CDC) in the Houston metro area.
The Missouri City, TX facility is fully operational as of April 9 and is the company’s largest distribution center investment to date since its 2008 founding.
This comes less than eight months after DWC opened a distribution facility in Ohio.
The Denver-based company stated that for electrical distributors serving Gulf Coast projects, specialty cable has become one of the hardest materials to source on schedule. The Houston hub will bring inventory closer to electrical distributors across a 250-mile radius, with same-day and next-day delivery available. Stock includes VNTC and XLP/PVC tray cable, instrumentation cable and copper building wire.
“Every expansion we make comes back to the same question: does this make our distributors’ life easier? Houston is the Mecca of wire and cable, and the people who sell here demand a level of service that matches the scale of what they’re quoting,” DWC CEO Travis Williams said in an April 7 news release. “We came to give this market a truly exceptional experience with deep inventory, cut to length capabilities, no minimums and same day shipping. Specialty cable should be the simplest line on the bill of materials, not the one causing the most stress. That’s what this facility is built to deliver.”
DWC, which operates seven warehouses nationwide, was acquired by private equity firm Crossplane Capital in December 2024.
