Winsupply Contines to Fill Regional Gaps, Adds 7th Greenfield of 2026

The distributor’s newest HVAC supply house expands its reach in North Carolina’s Triad region, continuing a busy year of greenfield openings, acquisitions and major distribution infrastructure investments.

Winsupply has added another greenfield location to its expanding network of locally operated supply houses.

The Dayton, OH-based distributor announced July 28 the opening of Winsupply Kernersville NC — an HVAC equipment and supplies business serving contractors across North Carolina’s Triad region.

Led by President Chris Jones, the location operates from a 10,000-square-foot storefront at 1175A South Park Drive in Kernersville. It opened for business April 6 and plans to hold a grand opening event this fall.

Winsupply said Kernersville’s pipeline of construction and subdivision projects made the market attractive. The location expands the company’s coverage of Mount Airy, Lexington and the Triad cities of Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.

“We are excited to bring our talents and knowledge to the market to help our customers succeed,” Jones said in a news release.

Jones and Sales Manager Neil Jackson each brought approximately 25 years of HVAC industry experience to the venture. Jones previously held delivery, warehouse, counter sales, branch management and operations roles before joining Winsupply’s Winston-Salem Noland operation in August 2025.

The Kernersville business is Winsupply’s third new Local Company in North Carolina announced this year. Winsupply Clayton NC serves plumbing and HVAC contractors from an 18,000-square-foot facility in the Raleigh-area market, while Winsupply of North Wilmington supplies HVAC parts and equipment from a 12,000-square-foot location.

Overall, Kernersville marks the seventh greenfield location Winsupply has announced during 2026.

The other additions include:

  • Winsupply C Pensacola, an 11,800-square-foot electrical supply house serving residential and commercial electrical markets and air conditioning contractors in Florida.
  • Winsupply of Burbank, a 12,000-square-foot residential and commercial plumbing location in the Greater Los Angeles market.
  • Winsupply of East Jacksonville, a 16,250-square-foot Florida facility serving fire protection, fabrication and PVF customers.
  • Cleveland Winwater, a waterworks distributor operating from a 4,500-square-foot building and more than two acres near Cleveland.

The Pensacola and Burbank businesses began operating during fall 2025 but were formally announced by Winsupply in January 2026. The remaining locations opened during late 2025 or the first four months of this year.

Those greenfields have accompanied two announced acquisitions. Winsupply acquired Appleton, WI-based HVAC distributor Central Corp. in February, followed in May by Texas waterworks distributor Rural Pipe & Supply, which operates locations in Jasper and Livingston.

Winsupply also unveiled a major expansion of its national distribution infrastructure in March. The company plans to add a combined 1.6 million square feet of capacity through the purchase of a 1.17-million-square-foot Atlanta distribution center and expansions of approximately 254,000 square feet in Oklahoma City and 200,000 square feet at its Dayton headquarters campus. The projects are expected to be completed by fall 2027.

Winsupply reported $8.4 billion in sales for its fiscal year ended Jan. 31 and now includes more than 680 wholesale distribution companies nationwide.

MDM Analysis

Winsupply’s 2026 activity illustrates how its build-and-buy strategy can address different expansion needs. Greenfields let the distributor recruit local operators and target specific product or geographic gaps without inheriting an existing organization. Acquisitions deliver customers, employees and market share more immediately.

The large distribution center investments support both approaches by giving new and acquired Local Companies greater inventory depth and fulfillment capacity. Together, the initiatives suggest Winsupply is not merely adding locations opportunistically — it is building the supply chain foundation needed to maintain its expansion pace across multiple construction and industrial verticals.
