Phoenix, AZ-based Ascent Lifting has acquired Jacksonville, FL-based United Rigging, marking the lifting and rigging products distributor and fabricator’s sixth acquisition overall.
Ascent, a portfolio company of private equity firm Shorehill Capital, completed the transaction July 31 and announced it Aug. 6. Terms were not disclosed.
United Rigging will combine with Ascent’s existing CERTEX branch in Jacksonville, strengthening the company’s service capabilities in northeast Florida. DeWayne Mueller, United Rigging’s former owner, was named operations manager, while Jan Mueller will serve as branch manager.
“We’re thrilled to welcome the United Rigging team to Ascent Lifting,” Ascent CEO Dee Schweigert said in the announcement. “Combining their capabilities with our CERTEX branch in Jacksonville deepens our presence in the region and supports our mission to be the preferred partner in the U.S. rigging industry.”
The deal continues an active acquisition stretch for Ascent, which completed three transactions in 2025. The company acquired Charleston’s Rigging & Marine Hardware in South Carolina on Feb. 3, followed by Florida-based Brevard Rigging Supply in early October and Corpus Christi, TX-based Hoisting Wire Rope and Sling later that month. The latter deal was Ascent’s fifth overall.
Ascent operates 42 locations nationwide under the CERTEX USA brand. The company distributes and fabricates lifting and rigging products including wire rope, chain, synthetic slings and related hardware.
