Distribution Solutions Group subsidiary Lawson Products acquired Safety Supply Illinois, which does business as Emergent Safety Supply (ESS) and is a national distributor of safety and JanSan products based in the Chicago suburb of Batavia, IL.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

According to DSG, ESS generates annual sales of about $13 million and is expected to be accredited to DSG’s adjusted EBITDA margins. DSG funded the deal via cash from operations.

“ESS is a leader in the safety products and services market, and this acquisition accelerates Lawson’s safety product expansion plans to better serve customers in all of our end markets,” Lawson Products President & CEO Cesar Lanuza said in a Jan. 22 news release. “ESS expands Lawson’s safety product offering by over four times. ESS strengthens Lawson’s technical expertise necessary to succeed in the safety product category, which will benefit Lawson’s existing customers, and DSG customers more broadly, who need high-quality safety products and services.”

The deal is the first for Lawson since it was part of a three-company merger alongside TestEquity and GexPro Services to form DSG in 2022. DSG since acquired industrial/electrical supplies distributor Hisco in June 2023 for $319 million.

DSG serves approximately 170,000 customers across MRO, OEM and industrial technologies markets, backed by 3,800 employees. The company was No. 27 on MDM’s 2023 Top Industrial Distributors List.
