I hope by now you’ve been able to check out MDM’s 2022 Top Distributors feature, which went live Aug. 15 and lists the top North American distributors across 17 different industrial, construction and commercial products verticals. One day later, business publication Inc. revealed the 2022 Inc. 5000 — its annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. based on their revenue growth rate.

Over the years, I’ve always seen announcements from distribution firms promoting that they had landed on the new Inc. 5000, but I never actually dove into the list to see all the distributors that earned a spot there.

Until now.

It turns out, there are way more distributors — 50-plus — on this year’s Inc. 5000 than I assumed, and that’s a good thing. Distribution people don’t go into distribution to earn accolades, but I know they sincerely appreciate when they get them; and a spot on the Inc. 5000 is one worth boasting about.
