Houston, TX-based Specialized Fabrication Equipment Group acquired Sumner Brand from Southwire Company. Terms were not disclosed.
Based in Houston, Sumner Brand is a manufacturer of material lifts, jack stands, welding tools and industrial equipment. Established in 1965, the company serves the fabrication, welding, and mechanical contracting industries worldwide.

S.F.E. Group is a manufacturer specializing in pipe fabrication, orbital welding and cutting solutions. The company was established in 2019 following the merger of three OEM companies in the field of pipe fabrication and machinery — B&B Pipe and Industrial Tools, Mathey Dearman and TAG Pope Equipment Specialists. S.F.E. Group stated that the acquisition strengthens its portfolio of fabrication tools and equipment.

Group CEO Vinay Varma said in a March 7 news release. “This acquisition strengthens our tools and equipment portfolio by leveraging Sumner’s industry expertise and extensive market reach. We will enhance our position in the contractor equipment industry, expand in-house operational capabilities and accelerate growth in industrial supply and rental markets.”

S.F.E. Group now has a portfolio of 12 brands and a workforce of over 400 employees. The group also operates across 340,000 square feet of manufacturing, assembly and warehousing space, with 19 sales, rental and service locations worldwide, along with more than 2,000 distributors.
