Hardware cooperative Ace Hardware announced the opening of its new Retail Support Center in Kansas City on July 15.
The new Ace Hardware facility spans more than 1.5 million square feet and measures approximately half a mile from end to end. It is nearly twice the size of the company’s average distribution center and is part of its national network of retail support centers focused on logistics and supply chain operations.

Located along Interstate 29 and adjacent to Kansas City International Airport, the facility has direct access to major highways and air freight routes. According to Ace, the location is intended to support delivery to independently owned stores across the central U.S.
Ace said this is the first facility to open in Hunt Midwest’s KCI 29 Logistics Park and is projected to create more than 350 jobs in the area. Construction of the center also supported around 100 jobs in the local community.
The facility includes automation and efficiency systems designed to streamline operations and reduce environmental impact. Ace added that the center is intended to support the company’s network of more than 5,000 independently-owned stores nationwide.

“This new 1.5 million-square-foot facility in Kansas City is more than just a building — it’s a symbol of what hard work, purpose, and servant-hearted teamwork can accomplish,” Ace Hardware President and CEO John Venhuizen said in a July 25 news release. “It exists for one reason only: to help our locally owned stores serve their neighbors with excellence that has made Ace famous.”
