GMS announced June 23 that it has acquired the assets of Central Materials — a distributor of stucco, EIFS, stone, masonry and related cladding products.
Central Materials has two locations serving South Texas’s Rio Grande Valley. Financial terms were not disclosed.
“We are excited to welcome Central Materials and its highly respected, customer service-oriented team of product experts to GMS,” GMS President and CEO John C. Turner Jr. said in a news release. “This acquisition demonstrates the continued growth and expansion strategy of The Home Depot and SRS as we increase GMS’s offering in complementary products and bolster GMS’s presence in the South Texas market.”
Central Materials and its team will continue operating under the company’s current name and branding. Founding partners Cesar Guzman and Alejandro Barrera will continue managing the business for the foreseeable future, working closely with GMS’ Southwest Division leadership.
“We are very excited to see how something we started almost 15 years ago is ready for this next step,” Guzman and Barrera said in the release. “We feel that GMS shares our values and will be able to make Central Materials grow even more!”
GMS became part of The Home Depot’s specialty trade distribution platform in September 2025, when Home Depot and its SRS Distribution subsidiary completed their acquisition of GMS for a total enterprise value of about $5.5 billion. SRS acquired GMS a little more than a year after The Home Depot completed its $18.25 billion acquisition of SRS in June 2024.
Founded in 1971, Atlanta-based GMS operates more than 320 distribution centers across the U.S. and Canada, offering wallboard, ceilings, steel framing and complementary products. It also operates nearly 100 tool sales, rental and service centers. It had $5.5 billion in its fiscal 2025 that ended April 30, 2025, and SRS nor Home Depot have broken how specific annual revenue figures for it since GMS was acquired.
SRS was No. 3 on MDM’s 2026 Top Distributors List for Building Materials/Construction. GMS was No. 9 in 2025.
