Canton, MA-based BSC Industries acquired fellow bearings and power transmission products distributor Gipson Bearing and Supply Co.

BSC is owned by Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners.

Founded in 1957 in Millvale, PA, Gipson began as a local bearing and power-transmission supplier serving Pittsburgh’s steel industry before relocating to West Homestead in 1965 to better serve customers. Today, the third-generation company, led by President Craig Gipson and Vice President Eric Gipson, operates locations in West Homestead (Pittsburgh) PA, Punxsutawney, PA and Wintersville, OH.

The company offers precision bearings, roller chain and sprockets, v-belts, seals, adhesives and related MRO components to diverse industries.

“Joining forces with BSC marks an exciting new chapter for our company,” said Craig and Eric Gipson, Co-Owners of Gipson Bearing & Supply, in a joint statement. “Like us, they share a customer-first philosophy and a commitment to building lasting relationships with customers and suppliers. We are confident this partnership will strengthen our ability to serve customers, create new opportunities for our employees, and continue the legacy our family has built over nearly 70 years.”

BSC is owned by Chicago-based private equity firm Benford Capital Partners.

“Gipson has built a strong reputation for service and expertise, and we’re proud to join forces as we expand BSC’s reach,” Peter Fitzpatrick, CEO of BSC Industries, said in a Sept. 5 news release. “Craig, Eric and the team have built a strong, locally trusted company known for customer commitment. Together we’re excited to expand product access, enhance service delivery, and offer even greater value to customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and beyond.”

In August 2024, BSC acquired Warren Pike, a bearings and power transmission products distributor which operates across New England.
