MRO supplies provider Vallen Distribution has expanded its Canadian logistics capabilities with the opening of a new distribution center in Edmonton, Alberta.
Located at 3256-56 Avenue in Edmonton, the 175,000-square-foot facility integrates advanced automation equipment and robotics, which includes the Opex Perfect Pick system and Modula lift, according to Vallen. The company said these technologies optimize inventory storage and enhance throughput while expediting order fulfillment — ultimately helping Vallen deliver enhanced customer service while prioritizing employee safety.
The new DC is also designed to be LEED-certified.
“We are thrilled to mark the opening of our new distribution center in Edmonton — a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence,” Vallen Canada President Karen Chester said in an April 29 news release. “This cutting-edge facility not only amplifies our ability to meet customer demands, but also reaffirms our commitment to innovation, sustainability and the safety of our team. With this milestone, we’re poised to deliver unparalleled service while championing sustainable practices.”
The announcement came four weeks after Vallen shared it had closed its $350 million purchase of Wesco Integrated Supply — the MRO supplies distribution unit of Wesco International. Ten days later, the company announced a trio of key leadership appointments.
On MDM’s 2023 Top Distributors Lists, Charlotte, NC-based Vallen was No. 18 for Industrial Distributors and No. 9 for MRO.
