On Oct. 6, Columbus, Ohio-based industrial supplier Kimball Midwest marked the grand opening of its newest distribution center in Newtown, Connecticut.
The Newtown Distribution Center, which began operations in late 2022 to service customers throughout the northeastern United States, joined existing Kimball Midwest locations in Dallas, Texas; Reno, Nevada; and Savannah, Georgia, as well as the corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
“We’re grateful to have found such an ideal location in Newtown,” Kimball Midwest President Patrick McCurdy said in a news release. “We appreciate the welcome we’ve received from the community and look forward to partnering with them for many years to come.”
The grand opening event was attended by local officials, including Newtown First Selectman Daniel Rosenthal, State Sen. Tony Hwang, State Reps. Mitch Bolinsky and Martin Foncello.
To honor the company’s 100th anniversary throughout 2023, each sales region, corporate department and distribution center received money for associates to donate to a qualified charity of their choosing. The company’s Newtown Distribution Center associates selected Sandy Hook Promise, a national nonprofit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012. Its mission is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes and communities.
On MDM’s 2023 Top Distributors Lists, Kimball Midwest ranks No. 38 among industrial distributors and No. 16 among MRO.Â
