MRO replacement parts distributor Motion agreed to acquire the operating assets of Thompson Industrial Supply, Inc.

Terms were not disclosed, but the transaction is expected to close by the end of February.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA-based Thompson Industrial Supply is a supplier of bearings, gear reducers, motors, hydraulics, industrial automation and pneumatics, catering to both large and small businesses from its headquarters and an additional facility in South El Monte, CA. The family-owned company employs 45 people across its two locations.

The Rancho Cucamonga facility is equipped with fabrication capabilities, such as two milling machines, three lathes, a key seater, a CNC lathe, a CNC milling machine center, robotic welders, a gearbox modification shop and a custom hydraulic hose shop.

“Thompson Industrial Supply is a highly reputable business, and we are thrilled to have their incredibly talented employees join the Motion team,” Motion President James Howe said in a Feb. 12 news release. “We also look forward to further bolstering our leadership position and impact to the Southern California market.”

Gary Thompson, the majority owner, will oversee the company’s transition, while other family members will maintain their roles after the transition is complete.

This will be Motion’s fifth acquisition since late October and comes about two weeks after the company announced its purchase of Hawaii-based Maguire Bearing — also expected to be completed by the end of February
