Mergers and acquisitions among industrial distributors and manufacturers rebounded in December after slowing down in the latter half of November.

Last month, MDM reported that the pace of M&A among industrial distributors and manufacturers slowed as the calendar crawled toward Thanksgiving. We expected to see a similar slowdown as we moved toward the December holiday season and the new year; but the pace of M&A actually held steady through the month, ending at 24 reported deals to close out 2022. And some of the biggest names in industrial distribution and manufacturing — BlackHawk Industrial, BradyIFS, Ferguson, Graybar, Imperial Dade and others — were among those announcing deals right up until it was time to open gifts. After a slow 1Q 2022, M&A activity was fairly strong and consistent throughout the rest of the year.
